How to Connect Spotify to Discord: A Complete Guide

Spotify and Discord

Connecting your Spotify account to Discord is one of the easiest ways to share your musical taste with friends. Not only does it show what you are listening to as a Discord status, but it also allows other users to listen along with you if they have Spotify Premium.

Furthermore, did you know you can import and stream your entire Spotify playlists directly inside server voice channels? In this guide, we will cover how to link your Spotify account to Discord and how to play your Spotify playlists using **Anya**.

Part 1: Linking Spotify to Your Discord Profile

To connect Spotify to your Discord client on desktop or mobile, follow these simple steps:

On Desktop (Windows / macOS / Web):

  1. Open Discord and click on the gear icon (⚙️) in the bottom-left corner to open **User Settings**.
  2. In the left sidebar, click on **Connections**.
  3. Click on the **Spotify icon** from the list of available integrations.
  4. A browser window will open. Log in to your Spotify account and authorize Discord to connect.
  5. Once successful, Spotify will appear on your Discord Connections page. You can toggle whether to display it on your profile and show it as your active status!

On Mobile (iOS / Android):

  1. Open the Discord app and tap your profile avatar in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Tap on **Connections**, then tap **Add** in the top-right corner.
  3. Select **Spotify** from the list and follow the login instructions in your browser.

Part 2: How to Play Spotify Playlists on Anya

Linking Spotify to your profile shows your status, but it doesn't stream music directly into a server Voice Channel. To stream your favorite Spotify tracks, albums, or playlists to your entire community, you can use **Anya**.

Anya has full Spotify integration built directly into her playback system. Here is how to play a Spotify playlist:

  1. Open Spotify on your device.
  2. Go to the playlist, album, or track you want to play.
  3. Click on the three dots (...) and select **Share** -> **Copy Link** (e.g. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/...).
  4. Open Discord, join a Voice Channel, and run the play slash command in a text channel, pasting your Spotify link in the query field:
/play query: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DXcBWIGo7nJjI

Anya's backend Spotify parser will automatically fetch the tracklist, search for high-fidelity audio streams for each song, and queue them up in order. You can load thousands of songs from Spotify playlists seamlessly!

Note: While listening along on Discord requires other users to have Spotify Premium, playing Spotify links with **Anya** works for everyone in the voice channel—no Spotify Premium account needed for your server members!
